The Urban Volunteer

This program has been designed specifically for active volunteers who are engaged in volunteer programs which support public safety and/or are registered with Citizen Corps to educate them in basic operational training to properly support public safety; during times where public safety needs additional resources for traffic control, civic events, prevention demonstrations, and emergency incidents.

Basic Course: The 8 hour course covers Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities, Two Way Radio Use, Observing and Reporting of Incidents and Traffic Control.

 

Advanced Course: The 16 hour course covers Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities, Two Way Radio Use, Observing and Reporting of Incidents and Traffic Control, Psychology of Public Safety Management, Crime Prevention, ICS/NIMS management, special event management and a practical exercise.

 

Managing Volunteers: This 8 hour course is designed for law enforcement, fire service personnel and volunteer supervisors who manage, oversee or coordinate their agenices volunteer programs. Topics covered included background checks, liability, policy, manuals, fund raising, volunteer retention, program involvement, training requirements, and risk management.

 CANCELLATION POLICY: 

  • There will be no cancellation fee for registrants cancelling seven (7) or more business days prior to the scheduled training start date.
  • Course cancellations made less than business seven (7) business days but less then five (5) business days will be charged 25% of the course enrollment fee.
  • Course cancellations made less than five (5) business days to two (2) business days prior to the scheduled training start date will be charged 50% of the course enrollment fee.
  • Course cancellations made one (1) business day or less of the scheduled training date or failure to attend an enrolled in course will be charged 100% of the course enrollment fee.
  • Subsitutions are allowed.
