Student Surveys

Part of the success of the GATE program is a our ability to adapt and adjust the program to the changes in the students that it serves. We can do this because we survey the students to learn about drug trends, gang recruitment, ages of at-risk behavior, bullying etc. This information provides us with a snapshot of each grade level as well as year to year the effects of the program on the students.

Since 1997 we have been conducting these surveys. In 2003 we added an secondary survey which emphasized identification on age of early drug use, experimentation and the surrounding behaviors associated with alcohol, tobacco and other drugs.

In early 2007 we will release a comprehensive 10 year longitudinal study of the impact of the GATE curricula on teens and the long term effectiveness of the program. Look for this in April 2007.
