The selection of the G.A.T.E. Instructor is an important part of your program's success. The program is very intensive and great care must be exercised in the selection of your instructor. The following information will aid you in that selection process.


Personal Characteristics of a G.A.T.E. Instructor

  • Positive
  • Enthusiastic
  • Dependable
  • Flexible
  • Enjoys working with children
  • Comfortable talking with a group of people from diverse backgrounds

Desired Background

  • Minimal of two years of experience in working with teens in one of the following environments: Law Enforcement, Education, Social Work, Probation, Parole and or Medical.
  • Exemplary work record
  • Positive role model
  • Well respected by peers
  • Well respected by agency management

Skills

  • Able to relate well to people, both children and adults
  • Able to respond well to impromptu questions
  • Able to grasp concepts and effectively communicate them both to children and adults
